Research Seminar: Tracking Land Use and Transportation-Related Trends for SB 375 Goals
Tracking progress toward meeting the greenhouse gas reduction goals of SB 375 is important for ensuring that adopted sustainable communities strategies (SCSs) are helping the state achieve its climate change goals. This project represents the first step in creating a system for tracking and monitoring this progress.
For this project, the researchers identified and evaluated potential indicators that can be used to assess whether changes “on the ground†are consistent with SB 375 goals to reduce driving and therefore GHG emissions. This effort included taking stock of existing metrics and performance measures and assessing how current data sets can be used to construct useful information about sustainable land use and transportation planning progress.
