Common Ground, Common Water: Water Quality: A Shared Priority

Both agricultural land use and urban development contribute watershed contamination, and stress water resources. Tension between urban needs and rural land use can obscure the fact that both sides share many of the same concerns and goals when it comes to protecting this shared resource. The biggest issue facing both rural and urban stakeholders is protecting their shared water resource from contamination. For this video, the shared water resource is Lake Michigan, which supplies water for thriving farms and developing urban populations. But the issues raised are the same everywhere.
